My name is Gianna Giovannetti and I am a licensed tourist guide of Florence and its province. After graduating in Arts at the University of Florence, with a thesis on Medieval Art History, I qualified first to teach Art History in high school and after, to work as a tour guide in Florence, speaking Italian, French and English. I have worked as a freelance guide since 2003. I live amongst the rolling hills in the Tuscan countryside, 30 km outside Florence, in a small village surrounded by olive trees. It is here where I was born and where I have always lived. I began to visit Florence thanks to my uncle, who was a great lover of the arts. I still remember the emotion I felt when I was a child and he was my guide in the Uffizi Gallery, also the awe standing in front of the statues of Michelangelo in the Medici Chapels, and the enthusiasm I had to climb the dome of the Duomo! This is how it all began, my love for this extraordinary city and its history! But also when I finish work and return home, I enjoy the quiet of the countryside, and I love spending my free time with my family, often going for long walks in the mountains in the forest of Vallombrosa…
